  Caputo's has THE BEST deli in South Elgin, reasonably priced and always fresh! The produce selection is also fantastic, love that the organic section is separate making it easier to find those products all in one spot! :)

  My wife purchased 1.5 lbs of roast beef on Sunday, two days ago. I opened it on Monday to make my daughters sandwiches for lunch and the smell that came out of the bag was like something I smelled in college dissecting cadavers, it was rancid. So I am here now to return the beef and get something that was fresh and edible. Walking up to the customer service desk there looked to be some confusion but I was told to go back and get some different beef. I wondered back to the deli, got the new beef and headed back up front. The look on the girls face was priceless, I said...you opened it, and she replied yes. That is horrible. So here is the kicker...the lady in the deli went over the weight I requested, not by much, and sent me on my way. I did not think twice, so when the exchange happened I was charged an additional $2.30!!! I was in shock and paid the difference. What happened to customer service? I thought Caputo's was a family grocer and took care of the community especially when it comes to their mistakes. I am blown away...I will not be back for a while if ever.

  Caputo's is my go-to for groceries. Their produce is really fresh, most of it being from local farms, and the bakery is top notch. Caputo's separates itself from other stores, however, by offering a wide range of imported goods that you won't find at any other large grocer. I've been shopping here for two years and I'm still finding new Indian/Mediteranian/Asian/European foods to try!
